End of season report - The Harborough Dynamos' 09/2010 season is offically over and it seems only fitting to reflect back on the highs and lows of what has been the most succussful season in club history. Starting back in October 2009, the club did not really know what to expect opening their first games against new teams Coalville Retro and Leicester Dribblerz, as having lost several players and gaining some new ones during the summer, meant this was a uncertain start. However it was clear from the first two games, that the Dynamos meant business. Even though they lost both of them, little did they know that both these teams would go on to win the divsion. The Dynamos' first win of this season campagin came against local rivals, Welland Valley Huskies, in what was a hard fought overtime victory, followed by a comfortable road win against Rawlins, starting the game with only 5 players! After losing some players to early season injuries, the Dynamos lost a few disappointing games, against Oadby Royales and Ashby Aztecs, however managing to hold off another new team in Melton C, winning by 1 point, saw a good start to the season, going into the Christmas break. Starting the new year with a long and cold road trip to Coalville, did'nt go that well for Harborough and facing the Dribblerz at home the following week saw two defeats to start 2010. However the Dynamos soon picked up the pace and picked up some useful road wins of their own, one against Huskies and another against Royales. In February, with a bye to the quarter finals of the Jubille Cup, the Dynamos would have to face Melton C. A possible semi-finals game awaited Harborough, as they knew they could beat this young team. Turning this match into a charity game to raise money for the people of Haiti, the Dynamos managed to raise £200 for the cause! However, Melton had their way and knocked the home side out of the cup. Maybe next season.... With the Dynamos sitting in a third position spot, in Divison 4, the Royales and Melton were hot on their heels and they needed to pull off some end of season wins, against lower placed teams Ashby and Coalville C. The Dynamos comfortbally beat Coalville and after a physcial game against Ashby, got the win aswell. To top things off, the final match was won against Gateway +40 in a overtime thriller, a team the Dynamos had never beaten before. Overall, a successful season finishing in a tight divison 4, in fourth place. The Dynamos will be looking to improve on their best season yet and hopefully pushing for promotion. A big thank you to all players, table officals, fans and sponsors, who made the season possible and hears to a even better 10/11 season! 08/05/10
